Top Trailers

Since writing my post on the upcoming DC feature Suicide Squad I have been doing a little more research of trailers released for films in 2016. Its safe to say that once again we’re in for a hell of a year in film; which therefore makes it yet another hard year of decisions for me. Once again I’ll be choosing whether to try and see one of the classics from a previous decade, or to watch the newest feature that everyone’s talking about.

Anyway onto my first trailer; I’ve picked this trailer as one of my favourites purely because the creator has decided to focus on one comical scene. This gives the audience a pretty good sense of the tone of the film while giving us a flavour of the many a-list talents included within this feature. Hail Caesar! stars Ralph Fiennes, George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Jonah Hill amongst many other talents. It’s certainly one to see in March when it’s released here in the UK.

The next trailer I’ve decided to look at is the next instalment in the Divergent series: Allegiant. Although the last feature was a bit of a disappointment (in my opinion), the Divergent trailers are always action-packed and always leave me desperate to see the film. This trailer is no different; we’re finally shown what’s behind ‘that wall’ however it’s not exactly what we’re expecting. This trailer’s best asset is definitely its use of enigma; what will happen to the characters? Where will they go next? Will they survive? All of these questions are raised and left repeating themselves long after the end of the trailer.

Next is a film starring Hugh Jackman and newcomer Taron Egerton (starring in last year’s Kingsman: The Secret Service). Egerton plays now world-famous ski jump athlete Eddie “the eagle” Edwards and his rise to fame. Hugh Jackman plays a rebellious ex-athlete who decides to help out Eddie and later becomes his coach. This feature looks both inspiring and hilarious and I’m really looking forward to seeing the full film.

This next feature has been more anticipated perhaps more than all of the other features put together; ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is the next instalment in the re-boot saga of the ‘X-Men’ franchise. Following on from the epic ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, this feature is set to be yet another incredible, action-packed adventure. This film (like ‘Hail Caesar!’)  features another amazing ensemble cast starring James Mcavoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Munn, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult.

Following on from that epic feature comes a brand-new Disney feature following on from Tim Burton’s 2010 version of the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland. This feature is based on Lewis Carrol’s second novel of the same title; ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’. Although I’m not familiar with the plot this trailer helps to make it to clear to myself and others like me. The special effects also look utterly amazing, creating an even more bonkers wonderland for Alice to explore; her task yet again seems to have been set for her as she has to fight against ‘time’ itself and save wonderland.

Another Disney feature coming out in summer 2016 is their adaption of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book; ‘The BFG’ (big, friendly giant). Many children across the world will already be more than excited over this 1 and a half minute teaser (including myself of course!), as the name sells itself. However the reason I’m even more excited to see this feature is because Disney have paired up with none other than Mr Spielberg himself. Three words; can-not-wait.

I hope you enjoyed my review of just some of the fantastic trailers, that have been created so far for features in 2016. I will be making sure to see at least all of the ones I have written about in this post, plus a whole load more of course! Thanks for reading 🙂

Ramble over.
