One of Us – BBC’s Dark Drama

I first saw this drama advertised on the BBC back in August and was instantly intrigued by it’s narrative. To me it seemed like a typical murder mystery set within a close-knit family however it’s so much more than that…..

The story starts with childhood sweethearts Adam Elliot and Grace Douglas who have returned home from their honeymoon and are found brutally murdered. What’s different about this already shockingly horrific scene however is that we see the murderer straight away – the narrative instantly gives away?!

Next we’re introduced to the ensemble cast that make this series as good as it is; their families and neighbours who live in the remote Scottish Highland village of ‘Braeston’. They are, of course, devastated, but things take an even darker turn when a badly injured man arrives at their doorstep after his car comes off the road – a man who seems to be the killer….

I won’t give too much more away because I don’t want to ruin this amazing mini-series for any of you guys out there. However, despite there only being 4 epsiodes broadcast in total, there is an awful lot of drama, suspense and secrets packed into each episode. I’ve never watched anything quite as dark and enigmatic as this BBC drama and I loved every single second of it.

If you want to check this series out – the series boxset is now available in most entertainment stores and online. I urge you to do so.

Ramble over.
